OKMEYDANI TRAINING AND RESEARCH HOSPITAL
The project will be implemented with utilization of a loan which has been agreed upon in between The Government of Turkey (GOT) and International Bank of Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) under the scheme Istanbul Seismic Risk Mitigation and Emergency Preparedness Project (ISMEP) objectives of which are to improve the city of Istanbul’s preparedness for a potential earthquake through enhancing the institutional and technical capacity for disaster management and emergency response, strengthening critical public facilities for earthquake resistance, and supporting measures for better enforcement of building codes and land use plans.
Şişli Okmeydanı Hospital is one of the biggest hospitals in European side of İstanbul that serves 8.000 patients per day. The total estimated surgeries are 48.000 per year and the estimated income budget of the hospital is around 70 Million dollars per year.
The construction of the new hospital will not only assist the development of the health services provided in the European side of İstanbul but also enable uninterrupted services to be provided during the evacuation of the other hospitals in the city that will be retrofitted or demolished and reconstructed.
It is envisaged that the hospital design will conclude with 800 beds at the hospital that will allow modular and extendable type of construction for the future investment.
